These Regulations implement in Great Britain Community legislation on the marketing of forest reproductive material. They make provision for the testing and approval of basic material for use in the production of forest reproductive material intended to be marketed and specify four categories of forest reproductive material that may be marketed in Great Britain. The Regulations provide for the Forestry Commissioners to demarcate and publish Regions of Provenance in respect of certain basic material and for the establishment and maintenance by them of a National Register of approved basic material. Suppliers of forest reproductive materials must also be registered. Appeal from certain decisions of the Forestry Commissioners may be lodged with the Plant Varieties and Seeds Tribunal.

The Forest Reproductive Material Regulations 1977, the Forest Reproductive Material (Amendment) Regulations 1977, and the Forest Reproductive Material (Amendment) Regulations 1992, are revoked.
