The effect of this Order is to permit the fishing for, transhipment or having on board mackerel by Irish sea-fishing boats, duly licensed, with effect from 1 January, 1999. It revokes The Mackerel (Prohibition on Fishing) Order, 1998 (S.I. No. 500 of 1998). That Order prohibited fishing for, transhipment or having on board mackerel by Irish sea-fishing boats in ICES Divisions Vb, VI, VII, VIIIa), b), d), e), XII and XIV with effect from 16 December 1998.
