The Order aims to subsidy for conversion to organic aquaculture production and to animal welfare/health measures to promote environmentally and economically sustainable aquaculture production. The Danish Environment Agency grants funding for projects related to these activities and is responsible for the adherence of application criteria for funding as well as monitoring the correct implementation of these activities. Commitments for grants can be given to projects where the total eligible costs are of least DKK 50 000. Application for a commitment for funding for animal health measures must be accompanied by one of the EU approved plan for control measures in accordance with Council Decision 2009/470/EC and Council Directive 2006/88/EC of 24 October 2006 on animal health requirements for aquaculture and products thereof, and the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals.
