The Order applies to the trade of food of agricultural origin, and which shall be labelled with reference to the organic production method. It includes organic animals for slaughter, feedstuff with animal contents and intended for animals (organic pet food), to the production of organic aquaculture (including organic seaweed), the production of all organic multicellular marine algae, phytoplankton and microalgae produced in organic aquaculture. Commercial operators must report activities to the national Veterinary and Food Administration on related organic production, labelling and trade. Sodium nitrite (E250) and potassium nitrate (E252) may only be used in the processing of organically produced meat products after prior authorization from the Administration. When treating aquaculture water, the following substances are permitted to be used: rock salt/sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, a mixture of brinoverilte and peracetic acid and hydrated lime. Organic food, pet food and aquaculture animals and products must be labeled with the inspection code number by the operator carrying out the last part of the cooking process or production. The code number for Danish Veterinary and Food Administration is DK- KO-100.
