The present Ordinance implements the Forestry Act of 25 March 1991, Agriculture Act of 11 December 2008 and the Act on protection of nature and landscape conservation of 23 May 1996. Article 1 establishes that the objectives of the integral and sustainable development of mountain areas are to: a) conserve and promote the mountain areas as living space and economic area, as well as recreation area for the population; b) conserve and promote living space of native plants and wild animals in mountainous areas in their extension and quality; c) conserve the mountain regions as raw material source and manufacturing base, especially for alpine farming, forestry and tourism; d) direct the development, form and intensity of exploitation in mountain regions complying with nature, landscape and the environment. The texte consists of 18 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Measures (II); Organization and procedures (III); Financing (IV); Final provisions (V). Two Annexes are enclosed.

The present Ordinance is consolidated as of LGBl. 2012, No. 24.The present Ordinance repeals the previous Ordinance of 1 July 1968 on the same subject.
