This Order provides rules relative to the identification of sheep and goats as required by Council Regulation No. 21/2004. It introduces two means of identification for animals born after a specified date. Animals involved in trade within the members States shall be marked with an eartag regarding birth or import and animals moved within the United Kingdom shall be dealt with in accordance with the national system of identification and tracing. Such a national system, set out in the Schedule to these Regulations, shall be approved by the Commission. The Regulations also provide requirements of registration of holdings that receive animals of first import from a third country.
