These Regulations require milk and milk products and spreadable fats marketed or intended for human consumption to comply with certain specifications regarding description, labelling and presentation as set out by Council Regulation (EC) 1234/2007 in Article 114 and Annex XII (milk and milk products) and Article 115 and Annex XV (spreadable fats). The Regulations also, among other things, concern vitamin levels in margarine, designate authorities and define offences.

These Regulations also revoke the Milk and Milk Products (Protection of Designations) Regulations 1990 in so far as they apply in relation to England.
