With this Order, the Secretary of State having regard to any obligations under EU or international law that relate to the conservation or improvement of the marine environment and in accordance with section 123(5) and other sections of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, designates a marine area as Swallow Sand Marine Conservation Zone. Objective of protection regards features of the broadscale marine habitat. Protected features include subtidal mixed sediment and sand.
