The provisions of this Regulation apply to the receipt, collection, recovery and other treatment of waste originating from electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), however does not apply to batteries (although batteries here are understood as an electrical power source consisting of one or more cells in which electricity is generated by the direct transmission of chemical energy). Purpose of these provisions is to reduce environmental pollution caused by EEE waste by addressing and ensuring separate collection, sorting, treatment and transport of materials and components of hazardous waste and their recycling.
