These Regulations amend for Scotland the Zootechnical Standards Regulations 1992 so as to give effect to Community legislation regarding reproductive material of pure-bred breeding animals of the bovine species. The amendments: place obligations on recognized organizations to ensure that semen which is intended for intra-Community trade is collected and processed at an EC collection centre and stored at an EC storage centre; and require recognized organizations to accept for breeding purposes bovine ova and embryos which satisfy the criteria specified in Council Directive 87/328/EEC on the acceptance for breeding purposes of pure-bred breeding animals of the bovine species.
