Definition

Originally group of 77 developing countries established in 1964 at the first session of UNCTAD. Now gathering 132 developing States. The Group seeks to harmonize the positions of developing countries prior to and during negotiations. China sometimes also associates itself with the G77, in which case the group is referred to as “G77/China” or “G77 plus China.”
