These methods are formulated in accordance with Article 57 of the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, aiming to regulate the standards and methods for the value evaluation of wildlife and its products.
The State Forestry Administration is responsible for formulating, promulgating and adjusting the Catalogue of Standards for Benchmark Values of Terrestrial Wildlife. The overall value of wildlife shall be calculated by multiplying the benchmark value of the wildlife listed in the Catalogue of Standards for Benchmark Value of Terrestrial Wildlife by the corresponding multiple. The specific methods are: Wild animals under first-class national protection shall be accounted for at ten times of the benchmark value of the listed wild animals; Wild animals under second-class national protection shall be accounted for at five times the benchmark value of the listed wild animals.
