Sustainable Strategies for the Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017 2021 is cross-sectoral document aimed at social sector development, increasing employment and real income of the population and development of social infrastructure, including sustainable system of housing and introduction of modern mechanism of public-private partnership. They shall be applicable to the national territory.
The objectives of modernization and development of agriculture shall be as follows: (a) deepening of structural reforms and progressive development of agricultural sector, enhancing the country's food security, enhancing the use of environmentally friendly products, increasing the agrarian sector's export potential; (b) optimization of cultivation of cotton fields and grain cultivation, planting of potatoes, vegetables, food and greenery for sowing, planting of gardens and vineyards; (c) stimulation of the development of multifunctional farms, with a view of production of agricultural commodities and supply of services; (d) construction and renovation of existing and new high-tech agricultural enterprises with high-tech equipment; (e) development of irrigated land including land reclamation and irrigation networks; (f) research on agricultural and ecosystem-based ecosystems for disease and pest control; and (g) development of a system of measures for agriculture and reduction of the negative impact on the activities of the population. Modernization and intensive development of agriculture shall be performed through implementation in production of new selective varieties of agricultural crops, resistant to diseases and pests, adapted to local soil climatic and ecological conditions, animal breeds with high productivity and further optimization of the cultivated land area, aimed at reduction of areas for cotton and grain crops, with placement on the released land of potatoes, vegetables, forage and oilseeds as well as new intensive orchards and vineyards.
Employment, increase of real income and purchasing power of the population, in particular of the poor and the families through full-time employment, in particular in agrarian sector, and stimulation of entrepreneurial activity. Social protection of the population shall be performed through gender equality ensuring involvement of housewives in social activities, provision of social guarantees and high-quality socio-medical services.
