In compliance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Regulation No. 338/97 makes provision in respect of the introduction into, or the export or re-export from the Community of specimens of specific endangered species and establishes related conditions and requirements. The present Regulation aims at implementing such provisions particularly as regards the issuance, validity and use of documents required.
The Regulation is divided into the following eight Chapters: (I) Definitions and forms; (II) Period of issue, validity and use of documents; (III) Specimens born and bred in captivity and artificially propagated specimens; (IV) Personal and household effects; (V) Exemptions; (VI) Marking specimens; (VII) Reports and Information; (VIII) Final provisions. In addition, eight Annexes are attached, mainly containing the model of the certificates and documents to be issued.
