These Regulations implement in part Council Directive 91/493/EC laying down health conditions for the production and placing on the market of fishery products. The Directive requires factory vessels, establishments, auction markets and wholesale markets to be approved in accordance with the Directive. Several of those requirements relating to equipment and structures are set out in the Schedule to the Regulations. The Directive provides for a derogation of all requirements set out in column (2) of the Schedule granted by Member States to applicants who made an application for derogation before the 1st July 1992. These Regulations also set out the procedures to be followed on an application for derogation (reg. 4) and how such application is to be determined (reg. 5). (6 regulations completed by a Schedule)
