The present Law implements the Federal Law on protection of waters of 8 October 1971. In particular, the Law lays down provisions relating to the division of responsibilities between the Canton and municipalities. The text consists of 44 articles divided into 12 Parts as follows: Subject matter (I); Competent authorities (II); Survey of basic situation, water monitoring and information (III); Maintenance of waters and waste water disposal (IV); Groundwater protection and exploration of gravel, sand and other materials (V); Urban drainage and sewerage (VI); Water protection in agriculture, soil protection (VII); Regional cooperation and additional measures relating to waters (VIII); Assessment of damage and water protection police (IX); Financing, fees and taxes (X); Common provisions (XI); Transitional and final provisions (XIII).
