This Act provides the definition of applied measures in obtaining good sea ecosystem, enabling sustainable exploitation of marine resources. It applies to the ecosystem structure, function and processes - including geographic, physiographic, biologic, geologic and climatic factors - as well as physical, acoustic and chemical relations existing and caused by human activities. It encompasses Danish sea zones such as waterbeds and seabed territories as well as exclusive economic areas. Based on analysis and annexes 1 and 3, environmental targets are set in order to achieve good environmental status of marine waters.
The Act consists of 7 Chapters and 5 Annexes: Purpose (1); Marine strategies (2); Marine strategies mobilization (3); Review of marine strategies (4); Administrative rules (5); Deadlines (6); Entry into force (7).
