The purpose of the present Ordinance is to implement the Council Directive 75/440/EEC concerning the quality required of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States and the Council Directive 79/869/EEC concerning the methods of measurement and frequencies of sampling and analysis of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking water in the Member States. The Ordinance applies to surface waters and parts of waters used for abstracting water to supply potable water to the public. Two Annexes are enclosed.
