This Act provides for the dissolution of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) and the transfer of all of its functions, staff and assets to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It also provides for the introduction of statutory measures necessary to enable Ireland to ratify the 2005 Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Materials (CPPNM). Finally, it includes a number of technical amendments in relation to RPII licensing; updates fines specified in section 40 of the Radiological Protection Act 1991 (the 1991 Act) to conform with the Fines Act 2010 and amends the definition of ionising radiation in the 1991 Act.
