These Regulations were adopted to implement the requirements of Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Restriction of the Use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical Equipment. The aim is the protection of human health and the environment. The Regulations include provisions on the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
