Definition

Ten-year framework for action to halt the loss of biodiversity adopted by the COP to the CBD in 2010 in Nagoya, Japan. The Strategic Plan provides an overarching framework on biodiversity, not only for the biodiversity-related conventions, but for the entire UN system. Parties to the Convention agreed to translate the Strategic Plan and its Aichi targets into revised and updated national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) to ensure implementation at the national and local level. Now superseded by the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
