This Act sets the general safety, health, sanitary and biological security protection principles and several related actions and procedures, all related to the necessary overall guaranteed public health reassurance on the territory of Gibraltar. The Act provides for a wide range multi-sectoral approach as it cover numerous topics, all in relation to the principle of granting and assuring the public health through the implementation of rules and actions defined as necessary procedure in certain specific matter.
Contents of this text are divided into main XII Parts: Part I (sanitation and buildings, topics such as sewerage and sewage disposal; private sewers and drains and cesspools; removal of refuse, scavenging, keeping of animals, etc); Part II (nuisances and offensive trades and trades likely to give rise to major accident hazards); Part IIA (control of major accident hazards involving dangerous substances); Part IIB (transfrontier shipment of waste and several related provisions); Part III (water supply, topics such as potable water, salt water, waterworks and other); Part IV (notification and prevention of diseases, topics such as notification of disease; provisions for preventing spread of infection; provisions as to disinfection of premises and articles, and the removal of infected persons); Part IVA (genetically modified organisms); Part V (destruction of rats and mice); Part V-A (waste, general provisions); Part VI (vaccination and immunization); Part VII (baths, washhouses, bathing places, etc); Part VIII (cellar dwellings, lodging houses, etc); Part IX (public highways); Part X (recreation grounds, ect); Part XI (rating and valuation); Part XII (general administrative provisions, such as supplemental as to powers of Government; recovery of expenses; offences and penalties).
