These Regulations further amend the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 to implement Commission Directive 98/28/EC which grants a derogation from certain provisions of Council Directive 93/43/EC on the hygiene of foodstuffs (OJ No. L 175, 19.7.93, p.1). They permit, subject to certain conditions, the bulk transport of raw sugar by sea in receptacles, containers or tankers that are not used exclusively for the transport of foodstuffs. Chapter IV of the First Schedule contains rules of hygiene during transportation.
