This Law hereby regulates the basic rights, obligations and responsibilities of natural and legal persons for the protection of well-being (welfare of live animals on the territory of the Republic of Montenegro) of live animals with particular regard to the protection of animals from torture, during their keeping and breeding, slaughtering, experimentation, transport and during additional sanitary and/or other types of treatments (on live animals).
The rules stipulated by this Law shall apply to all animals, in particular to animals that are bred and reprocessed for the production of food, wool, leather, fur and other industrial purposes; pets; abandoned, lost and dangerous animals; animals in zoos, receptions or breeding grounds; animals in circuses and other plays; animals used in experiments (shall not apply for to embryonic and fetal developmental stages; fisheries sector).
This text further prescribes the offences and necessary penalties.
