The law aims at outlining and implementing policies on agricultural research and technology, forest protection and at settling other provisions. In Chapter A the law establishes the National Agricultural Research Foundation (N.AG.RE.F.) which shall be the national body responsible for agricultural research and technology in Greece, functioning as a legal private entity sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture. N.AG.RE.F. will be in charge of research for technological improvement and development in agricultural, forest, and fish production. The Foundation shall also relate to issues regarding veterinary, management of marine resources, soil science, land reclamation, processing and preservation of agricultural products, as well as agricultural economy and sociology. N.AG.RE.F. will be administered by an eleven member Administrative Council, whereas the planning of its scientific and research activities is carried by the Scientific Council. Amendments on other laws are set forth in Chapters B and C while Chapter D defines forest protection and forest protection bodies and their competencies.
