These Measures aim to strengthen the administration of animal quarantine activities, prevent, control and exterminate animal epidemics, guarantee the safety of animals and animal products, protect human health and safeguard public health safety. The Measures consist of 53 Articles divided into 10 Chapters: General Provisions; Quarantine Declaration; Production Place Quarantine; Slaughterhouse Quarantine; Aquatic Fingerlings Production Place Quarantine; Animal Quarantine in the Areas without Prescribed Animal Epidemics; Quarantine Examination and Approval for Dairy or Breeding Animals; Supervision on Quarantine; Rules for Penalties; Supplementary Provisions.
The scope, objects and procedures of animal quarantine shall be formulated, adjusted and promulgated by the Ministry of Agriculture. The animal health supervision organ shall assign its own official veterinarians to conduct quarantine on animals or animal products in accordance with the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law and these Measures, issue the quarantine certificates and affix quarantine labels.
