A common organization of markets in fishery products is hereby established, comprising a price and trading system and common rules on competition. Common marketing standards and the scope of such standards may be determined for the products listed in Article 1 or groups of these products; these standards may, in particular, cover classification by quality, size or weight, packing, presentation and labelling. Where common marketing standards have been issued, the products to which they apply may not be displayed for sale or marketed unless they conform to these standards. Products shall be subject to inspection by Member States. Title II is concerned with producer organizations. This Regulation consists of 43 articles divided in 6 Titles and IV Annexes.

Regulations (EEC) 3759/92, (EEC) 105/76 and (EEC) 1172/82 are hereby repealed with effect from 1 January 2001. References to the repealed Regulation (EEC) 3759/92 shall be construed as reference to this Regulation and should be read in accordance with the correlation table in Annex VIII.
