This Regulation establishes a Community eco-label award scheme which is intended to promote the design, production, marketing and use of products which have a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle, and provide consumers with better information on the environmental impact of products. The eco-label can be awarded to products which meet the objectives set out in Article 1 and which are in conformity with Community health, safety and environmental requirements. The conditions for awarding the label shall be defined by product groups. A committee composed of the representatives of the Member States and chaired by the representative of the Commission shall assist the Commission.
