This Directive lays down the animal health and public health requirements governing trade in and imports into the Community of products of animal origin (including trade samples taken from such products) not subject to the said requirements laid down in specific Community rules referred to in Annex A (I) to Directive 89/662/EEC (5) and, as regards pathogenic agents, to Directive 90/425/EEC. The Directive consists of four Chapters and three Annexes. The products of animal origin covered by the present provisions, and referred to in Annexes I and II, may not be the subject of trade unless they meet the requirements established therein with respect to, on the one hand, animal health aspects and, on the other hand, public health aspects. The provisions on checks set out in Directive 89/662/EEC and, as regards pathogenic agents, Directive 90/425/EEC shall apply to the products covered by this Directive (art. 7). Chapter III is devoted to imports into the Community. Annex I deals with specific animal health requirements, as mentioned above. The Annex is divided into the following fifteen Chapters: (1) Liquid milk, dried milk and dried-milk products not intended for human consumption; (2) Animal casings; (3) Hides and skins of ungulates not covered by Directive 64/433/EEC or 72/462/EEC; (4) Pet food containing low-risk materials within the meaning of Directive 90/667/EEC; (5) Bones and bone products (excluding bone meal), horns and horn products (excluding horn meal) and hooves and hoof products (excluding hoof meal); (6) Processed animal protein; (7) Blood and blood products of animal origin (with the exception of equidae); (8) Serum from equidae; (9) Lard and rendered fats; (10) Raw material for the manufacture of animal feedingstuffs and pharmaceutical or technical products; (11) Rabbit meat and farmed game meat; (12) Apiculture products; (13) Game trophies; (14) Manure for treatment of the soil; (15) Unprocessed wool, hair, bristles, feathers and parts of feathers. Annex II, which lays down specific public health conditions, consists of two Chapters. Chapter I concerns imports from third countries of meat products obtained from poultrymeat, farmed game meat, wild game meat and rabbit meat.
