This Directive lays down the animal health requirements governing trade in and imports into the Community of animals, semen, ova and embryos not subject to animal health requirements laid down in specific Community rules. The Member States shall ensure that the trade is not prohibited or restricted for animal health reasons other than those arising from the application of this Directive. The Directive aims at the prevention of infectious diseases in relation to the trade from Member States and third countries of specific animal species. A health certificate must accompany the animal subject to trade and come from approved breeding establishments. The Annexes regard: noticeable diseases in the context of this Directive (I), list of diseases for which national programmes may be recognized under this Directive (II), conditions governing approval of bodies, institutes or centres (III), conditions governing the approval of semen collection centres (IV).(30 articles and 5 Annexes)
