With a view to protecting public health, this Regulation sets forth maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs so as to keep them at levels which are toxicologically acceptable. The foodstuffs listed in the Annex shall not be placed on the market where they contain a contaminant listed therein at a level exceeding the maximum level allowed. Further provisions regard monitoring and reporting.
